COVID-19 Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently asked questions regarding NGTC Spring Semester 2020 and COVID-19:

What is a coronavirus?

The Center of Disease Control outlines the basic facts on their website: cdc.gov, and can answer basic questions regarding the illness. They also provide information on how to protect yourself from the virus and how to manage and cope with stress for you and your family.

What do I do if I feel sick?

Students showing symptoms should contact a healthcare provider. Call ahead and explain your symptoms. They will advise you on how to proceed.

Also, a new app and website is available from Apple Inc., in partnership with the White House Coronavirus Task Force and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The app guides you through a series of questions about your health and exposure to determine if you should seek care for COVID-19 symptoms. The tool provides CDC recommendations on next steps including guidance on social distancing and self-isolating, how to closely monitor symptoms, recommendations on testing, and when to contact a medical provider.

Users can download the free app from Apple’s App Store external icon or access the tool online at www.apple.com/covid19 external icon. Everyone has a role to play as we work together to stop the spread of COVID-19. The latest recommendations can be found at www.coronavirus.gov external icon.

I'm having trouble with my online connections or registering my work. Who can I call?

The first contact should be your instructor. The most effective way for you to communicate with your instructor is through email. If you are unable to reach your instructor, please contact Jennifer Garrett at 706-754-7771 or jennifer.garrett@northgatech.edu.

If the problem is from within Blackboard, contact Samantha Marchant at smarchan@northgatech.edu or 706-439-6327. NGTC is unable to troubleshoot home network issues. If internet connectivity issues are the problem, please contact your internet service provider.
