II. C. 11. Severe Inclement Weather

  1. The President of the Technical College or the President's designee(s) shall consult with appropriate law enforcement officials and/or emergency management personnel when the weather is severe (snow, ice, etc.).  A determination of whether to close the college, delay classes or alter the normal business hours in any way will then be made.
     
    1. The decision made by the President or the President's designee(s) will be announced to the public through the news media (TV and radio stations in the northeast Georgia area).  Should the inclement weather occur overnight, the announcement regarding business hours will be made prior to 7:00 a.m.  if possible, the announcement would be placed on the NGTC web site.  The voice mail message of NGTC should include an inclement weather statement directing persons to listen to local radio and television stations.
    2. In compliance with the SBTAE policy, the President or the President's designees shall notify the Commissioner of the decision made.
       
  2. It will be the supervisor's responsibility to ensure adequate personnel is available to provide services.  The employee should contact the supervisor if transportation is necessary.
     
  3. Employees, who leave early or are late for work due to inclement weather when normal working hours are observed, will be responsible for completing the proper leave paper work.
