Dear Student:
Are you getting ready to do your taxes? Tired of waiting until the end of January for all those necessary forms to come in the mail ? Getting your 1098-T just got easier!
Students who are eligible to receive a 1098-T Form (**see an explanation of this form at the bottom of this note**) may now retrieve it electronically.
In order to retrieve a 1098-T electronically, you will need to consent to receiving it electronically in lieu of a mailed form. You may also get additional copies online in the future as well.
If you do not choose to retrieve your form electronically, one will be mailed to you. Paper 1098-Ts will not be mailed until around January 31st and may reach you sometime after that date.
To retrieve your 1098-T electronically:
- Launch a web browser and go to http://tra.vangent.com (Note: Internet Explorer 9 users may need to use “Compatibility View”)
- Click the “First Time Students” button.
- Enter your First and Last names and the last 5 digits of your Social Security Number.
- Click Submit.
- If records are present for you, you will be instructed to create an account. Follow the instructions on the website to create a free account and retrieve you 1098-T. If records are not found for you, or you have difficulty creating an account, use the “Help” link the left menu.
Remember, by acknowledging that you are receiving this form electronically, a hard copy form will NOT be mailed to you. However, you may return to this website as often as needed to retrieve a copy.
**1098-T forms are used to determine your eligibility for claiming the Education Tax Credits on your Federal Income Tax returns.
'
Only the students whose total amount of eligible education expenses exceed the total amount of financial aid awards received (Hope, Pell, etc) will receive a 1098T form.
