GENERAL QUESTIONS
What is the minimum age?
Most courses are open to all ages, however, there are exceptions. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult, and both are considered full-pay students. For some courses, like Commercial Drivers License Review, there are obvious age restrictions. For other courses, like Welding for Artists, the parent is advised to consider the level of physical dexterity required as well as the potential for dangerous situations.

Can I bring my child?
Appropriate child care arrangements must be made by individuals prior to attending class. At this time, we cannot offer child care during class times.

Can I accompany my child?
Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult and the adult is considered a student. Both the child and the adult must pay the course fees.

How can I talk to the instructor?
Instructors are typically available for questions just before and just after class times. If you need to speak with an instructor by phone, we will be happy to make those arrangements by giving your phone number to the instructor and asking him/her to contact you.

What supplies do I need to bring?
Typically, supplies are not needed for the first night of class. If supplies are required, you will be notified at the time of registration. If a supply list is available, we will provide that to you at the time of registration.

Do I need to bring my own equipment?
If you need to bring your own equipment, you will be advised of it at the time of registration.

CERTIFICATIONS
Is there a certification at the end of this course?
Unless otherwise specified, student will receive a course completion certificate. Some of our Certification and Licensing courses do have a test at the end and students who pass the test will be certified or eligible for licensure. For instance, the Certified Pool Operator and ServSafe courses require students to pass a test at the end of the course to earn certification.

Can I get PLUs?
Teacher PLUs (Professional Learning Units) are awarded under strict criteria. Unless a course is specifically denoted as offering PLU credit, you will receive only a completion certificate from the North Georgia Technical College Continuing Education Department.

Can I miss a class?
If you must miss a class, please let your instructor know. Unless there are specific attendance requirements (as in the case of the Real Estate Sales Pre-License course), make-up time will not be required or available.

Can I get my book now?
If a book is required for the class and you have paid in full, you may pick up your book prior to the beginning of the class. However, if the class is cancelled due to low enrollment, your refund will be reduced in the amount of the cost of the book.

REAL ESTATE
Is there financial aid?
Because the Real Estate Sales Pre-License course does lead to a specific license for a specific career, it does sometimes qualify for some types of financial aid. WIA (Workforce Investment Act) is a possible resource: http://www.georgia.gov/00/channel_title/0,2094,4802_5037,00.html. In addition some veterans benefits are eligible. This class is not eligible for Georgia HOPE or Pell Grants.

Can I make payments?
Yes, you can make payments in advance of class beginning, but you must be paid in full before the first class date.

Are there discounts?
NGTC Continuing Education is pleased to offer a 10% discount to all Senior Citizens 55 years of age and older.

How can I make up my time if I miss a class?
The Georgia Real Estate Commission requires that students in the Real Estate Sales Pre-License class attend a minimum of 75 hours of classroom time. Classroom time is defined as face-to-face instruction with a qualified instructor. Make-up time must be arranged directly with your instructor. If there is a Real Estate Sales Pre-License class running on another campus, it is sometimes possible to attend a session of that class as a make-up. However, since the classes begin at different times, students who choose this option run the risk of repeating a topic or missing one entirely. Students are strongly encouraged to make every effort to attend every class with their instructor.

What happens when I pass the class?
Upon notification that you have passed your pre-license test, you may call to schedule your Georgia Real Estate License test through AMP (1-800-345-6559). The cost for this test is approximately $95.

What are my options if I fail the test?
If you fail the pre-license test the first time, you may re-take it. It is strongly advised that you take it within a month. This time period allows you to study but does not give you time to forget (hopefully) what you have already learned. Your re-take may be scheduled on any of the three campuses at least a day in advance of when you want to take it.

Can I return the CD course materials?
If the seal has not been broken on the CD and all other materials are in original condition, you may return your Real Estate Sales Pre-License CD course materials within 7 days of original purchase for a full refund. After that period, the course cannot be returned.

Can I return my book?
If you picked up your book prior to the start of class and then cancelled out of the class before the start date, you may return your book if it is in original condition (no markings of any kind). NGTC does not buy used Real Estate books back from Continuing Education students.

I didn't get a book with my CD.
Other than the Americas Best Real Estate Salesperson Pre-license CD course, which comes with two books, all other Real Estate self-study courses (Broker Pre-license course, Post License course, and Continuing Education courses) contain study materials as PDF files on the CD.
