At NGTC, we strive to give each of our students an employment-driven education experience. Through an open-admissions policy, the College maximizes access to excellent, convenient, and affordable academic and workforce development programs. The College is committed to helping students achieve their educational, employment, and enrichment goals.

The admissions policies and procedures of the Technical College System of Georgia and North Georgia Technical College assure our citizens equal access to the opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for them to secure personally satisfying and socially productive employment. By design and implementation, the policies and procedures governing admissions to North Georgia Technical College will:

  • • Be nondiscriminatory on the basis of race, color, creed, national or ethnic origin, gender, religion, disability, age, political affiliation or belief, disabled veteran, veteran of the Vietnam Era, or citizenship status (except in those special circumstances permitted or mandated by law)
  • • Increase the prospective student’s opportunities

  • • Support the timely processing of applications and admission to the college.

GENERAL ADMISSION

Age

Applicants must be 16 years of age or older at the time of application to North Georgia Technical College. Some program standards require a student to be 17 or 18 years old to enter. See individual program entrance requirements.

Education

All degree and diploma programs require high school graduation from an accredited high school or GED before admission into the program.

Application for Admission

North Georgia Technical College admits students regardless of age, sex, race, national origin, color, or handicap. Students seeking admission into any credit course or program must be at least 16 years of age. All applicants must submit an NGTC application with a non-refundable application fee.

Verification of Lawful Presence in the United States

Effective January 1, 2012, all students applying for in-state tuition must provide validation of lawful presence in the United States. The following documents will serve as proof of lawful presence in the United States and documentation will be required before you are eligible for consideration of in-state tuition:

  • a. A current Driver’s License issued by the state of Georgia after January 1, 2008.
  • b. A current ID issued by the State of Georgia after January 1, 2008.
  • c. A current Driver’s License or ID issued by a state that verifies immigration status and only issues to persons lawfully present in the United States.   • d. A certified U.S. Birth Certificate showing the student was born in the U.S. or a U.S. territory. A photocopy is not acceptable.
  • e. An approved completed FAFSA for the current financial aid year.
  • f. A current valid Permanent Resident Card(USCIS form I-151 or I-551).
  • g. A U.S. Certificate of Birth Abroad issued by the Department of State (DS-1350) or a Consular Report of Birth Abroad(FS-240).
  • h. A current U.S. Passport.
  • i. A U.S. Certificate of Citizenship (USCIS form N-560 or N-561).
  • j. A U.S. Certificate of Naturalization (USCIS form N-550 or N-570).

Any student who cannot be verified as lawfully present in the United States is not eligible to be considered for in-state tuition, regardless of how long he or she has lived in Georgia. In addition to being lawfully present in the United States, students must meet the in-state tuition requirements as out lined in the TCSG Board Policy and Procedure V.B.3 to warrant an in-state classification. Students that are initially classified as out of state, and successfully petition to have their residency changed to in-state also have to meet the verification requirement.
