| NGTC utilizes different types of technologies to deliver online learning to its students. Such a wide variety of platforms for reaching out to students makes NGTC's online learning a great option for its students. Apply Today!
Students who enroll in online courses may be directed to the Angel Learning Management System for actual coursework. This asynchronous environment provides faculty a means for delivering lecture and assignments and gives students the structure they need for logging in anytime/anyplace to turn in assignments and to take any related exams. Want to take a class while wearing pajamas? This classroom environment may just be for you.
Another option used by faculty is the Elluminate classroom environment. Elluminate is referred to as a synchronous learning environment because it requires students and instructors to log in at the same time. By utilizing built-in chat functions and browser controls, faculty can instruct real-time - allowing students to hear and see lectures via webcam and whiteboard features.
Some online classes may even require a combination of Angel and Elluminate features.
Other modified classroom options available for students include hybrid distance learning classes as well as those which are simply web-enhanced. However, it is important to note that all online/hybrid/web-enhanced classes maintain the same rigor and requirements as those taught in a traditional classroom setting at NGTC.
All NGTC students are required to take the Online Ready Survey. This survey documents the level of Internet and Email experience held by each student. It also reveals important information about student learning preferences and compatibility to taking online courses. Students who do not test out as online ready are required to attend tutoring sessions aimed at providing the information they need to be successful in online classes. Tutoring sessions are scheduled as seen below. No appointment is necessary but please prepare to stay for about one hour.

When students are registered for online classes, a printed schedule is provided. This schedule includes the web address and the login/password needed to complete course studies. Students enrolled in online courses should call or email their instructor if they encounter issues or have questions about a specific course.
Students already enrolled at other colleges wishing to take online classes at NGTC should apply as a transient student via the Georgia Virtual Technical College at www.gvtc.org. An Online Bookstore is available for purchasing the appropriate textbooks for online classes.
