North Georgia Technical College Library FAQs

How do I find out if the NGTC Library has the book or DVD that I need?

•  I Link is the online catalog of resources owned by all three campus libraries. Campus location is noted. Renewals, holds, and access to electronic resources are available here, too. As an NGTC student, you may borrow materials from any of the 3 campus libraries in person or by notifying your home campus library staff.

Do I have access to electronic resources at home, too?

•  Yes, all of the library's databases may be accessed at home. Passwords are located on The Student Web at Library Electronic Resources & Passwords.

How do I check something out from the library?

•  Bring your student ID card to the library and get signed up! Check out time for print items is two weeks; CDs and DVDs are limited to one week.

What can I do if I cannot find what I need in the NGTC Library?

•  You can request specific titles be borrowed from another library in the Southeast using interlibrary loan. See library staff to complete a request form. This is a free service!

•  You may visit a neighboring library that NGTC has a reciprocal borrowing agreement with or any technical college library in the state of Georgia .

•  Emmanuel College

•  Piedmont College (requires a special card from NGTC Library)

•  Technical College System of Georgia

•  Toccoa Falls College (borrowing privileges for Stephens County residents)

•  Young Harris College

Will I be charged overdue fines?

•  No. Please respond to overdue notices in a prompt manner. If items are not returned in a timely fashion you may have a hold placed on your NGTC account which will prevent you from registering, receiving grades, or graduating.

What is an eBook? Do I have access to NetLibrary?

•  An eBook is an electronic book delivered to your desktop 24/7 via the Internet. Over 28,000 eBooks are loaded into iLink—the call number is EBOOK, so simply click on the URL to the right of the record to view the book. For home access, create your free account on campus first. NetLibrary is available as a database in GALILEO as well.
