NORTHEAST GEORGIA YOUTH SCIENCE &
TECHNOLOGY CENTER, INC.

Mission

  • To make science, math and technology fun and exciting for students.

  • To train elementary and middle school teachers to use more hands-on activities and technology when teaching science and math.

  • To improve the capabilities of our future work force to cope with the increasingly complex technologies of global competition.

The Georgia Youth Science & Technology Centers (GYSTC) are a network of non-profit 501 (c) (3) educational centers located throughout the state of Georgia. The Northeast GYSTC, which opened in 1993, currently serves Banks, Franklin, Gainesville City, Habersham, Hart, Rabun, Stephens, Towns, Union, and White counties. Under the guidance of a local board of directors, composed of leaders from business, government, and education from the service region, the center focuses on the training of teachers and students in science, math and technology hands-on training. NEGYSTC also offers a range of other programs for as well, including summer day camps, Saturday Science Adventures, guest speaker assemblies, and Family Science & Math Nights.

Located on the campus of North Georgia Technical College in Clarkesville, the NEGYSTC is housed in the Collins Lodge & Conference Center. This facility has two state-of-the-art computer labs, conference rooms, classrooms, and lodging facilities.

The center will continue to identify new and innovative ways to demonstrate the importance and excitement of science/math/technology to the community. We welcome your support in the form of monetary contributions, donated equipment and/or services. Employees of the State can make contributions through the State Charitable Contributions Campaign (Code Number 151000). All donations made to the center are tax deductible.
